I first discovered my passion for helping students navigate their academic journeys when I began volunteering as a college essay editor for my peers at SUNY New Paltz back in 2017. We’d sit together at the campus Starbucks above Parker Theater, they’d grab me a coffee, and I’d pour over their personal statements until we got the wording just right. I loved learning about their dreams to go to medical school or work for a major news channel in NYC. As I followed my own dream of becoming a writer and pursued an MFA at Stony Brook University, what began as a favor to classmates and friends transformed into something bigger — I began to coach friends of friends, first-generation students, and even future artists and educators like myself. It has been both humbling and energizing to watch the students I work with get into their first-choice colleges, whether they were offered a full undergraduate scholarship at Chapman University or an acceptance into UConn’s Physics PhD program.

To deepen my expertise, I spent three years working as an Admissions Coach with One-on-One College Consulting, where I supported over 50 students a season in career exploration, resume-building, and essay editing. I also helped organize and instruct One-on-One’s first College Essay+ Boot Camp, an essay writing workshop for a group of rising seniors at Revere High School in Massachusetts. Additionally, I worked as an Admissions Coach for Ardent Academy, which specializes in guiding high-achieving, STEM-focused students toward Ivy League educations. Here, I provided multiple drafts of written feedback on personal statements, supplemental essays, and UC essays for 50 students living near Irvine, CA.

Each day, I feel grateful that I can help the next generation become our leading thinkers, innovators, and artists. Together, we can help the future become just a little bit brighter for all.
